Let me shed light on one issue in this whole controversy–the AIDS comment. The exact quote was, “The government lied about inventing the HIV virus as a means of genocide against people of color. The government lied.”
I don’t believe the goverment created AIDS to kill black people, however I can understand how Rev. Wright can be inclined to believe it. In fact, he’s not the first person I’ve heard who believes this. Wright grew up in a generation when the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment on African American men in Alabama was exposed.
African American men were being medically examined for syphilis without their knowledge. They thought they were being examined for “bad blood” and didn’t realize they were part of some major research study. After anti-syphilis treatment became available, the men were not given the treatment.
After some of them were supposed to be treated after registering for the military draft, the United States government excluded the men in the study without their knowledge from receiving treatment and from conscription. Later, after penicillin was being widely used to treat syphilis the men in the study still weren’t given the treatment.
Some of these men died, never receiving treatment.
Moreover, some of the men’s wives and children got infected because the men weren’t treated.
All of this was exposed in the 1970s probably during Wright’s most intellectually formative years. It sent shockwaves of distrust throughout the African American community about the relationship between their government and their health. As an African American male who served in the military, I’m sure this hit close to home for Wright. In fact, if he had simply been born a few states farther south a couple years earlier, it could have been him.
Wright has historical and personal grounding on which to be skeptical of diseases that are disproportionately plaguing the black community and the government’s response to them. That’s why while I don’t believe his comment about AIDS, I think there has been an historically uninformed overreaction to it.
Update: I made an error above in recounting the details of the study, which I just corrected. The men in the study were not allowed to serve. Rather they were excluded from the treatment given to those in the draft and excluded from conscription all without their knowledge. My bad. I read two different sources that told that detail of the story differently.
Also, two commenters below rightly point out the sterilization program in North Carolina for black women and also the sterilization program against Puerto Rican women.

That 3rd paragraph reads poorly with the use of the word ‘investigated’…that is just when speaking of a disease. You may want to consider saying they were involuntarily infected then unknowingly monitored for syphillis for decades so that scientiist could follow the disease progression, Or you could say they were unkowingly research guinea pigs.
It’s jsut that the word investigated sounds more legal than scientific.

Why is the notion that HIV/AIDS is man-made always just dismissed out of hand?
If the Tuskegee Experiment is not only plausible but wholly factual, why is it a stretch to believe that a virus that affects the darkest people the most was made by design?

A thorough review of the cancer research medical journals will reveal why immunosuppressive viruses like HIV were invented by cancer vaccine researchers. Thank you winston, now I don’t think I’m crazy along with what seems like only a handful of other people. It was hard for me to come to grips with just how evil White Supremacists are, but they are collectively the smartest, most powerful people on the planet, and they are masters of illusion. Frankly, I have given up trying to explain or prove this to people. We have both posted the links, and it is up to those who care to look further to do so. It doesn’t change my view. When people say it’s “the government” did it, it’s too ambiguous.

‘All racists are white’?..is a racist statement in itself. Are the people committing attrocities in Darfur white? Is Osama Bin Laden white? Racism is just one form of fundamentalism which, in all its forms, is divisive an derogatory. A fundamental view that I am right and you are wrong closes the mind to reflecting upon the possibility that you may not be right. That power of reflection is what sets man apart from other animals and denying it to ourselves by elevating ourselves to be all knowing makes us sub human. None of us know everything, none of us are perfect but we should all know how to be respectful to other forms of life and the environment in which we live. We all have a racist/fundamentalist in us somewhere. The more humanitarian among us have learned its true nature and how to deal with it.

Rev. Wright is not the only minister who thinks AIDS was created and distributred to Blacks. Pat Roberson, 700 Club, had a segment on the subject several years ago, regarding scientist who created the AIDS virus and distributed it to Black Africans. Although he said at the end of the segment, if they did this, it’s a shame. Someplaces in scripture, if means “since” . Pat’s statements were not taken out of content nor were they critized. What is the difference?, same thoughts, different minister.

Has anyone ever heard or read the book “Emerging Viruses”? It’s about the beginnings of the AIDS and Ebola viruses. Interesting read that speaks about the WHO (World Health Organization) who supported military contractors who allegedly developed and tested these so called vaccines in villages in where AFRICA!!!!! Interesting since this is a place where over half the population is infected. And to think these people actually thought they were getting polio, hepatitis or smallpox vaccines. Makes you think doesn’t it.

While your post is well-intentioned, it is not helpful. The problem for Obama is that what Wright said about AIDS sounds in the ears of any scientifically educated person — indeed most of America — like crazy consipracy talk — like those who say “the Jews” were behind the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. It is interesting to think about why people believe and propagate lies, but that doesn’t make the lies true.
You can try to provide context for believing — no PREACHING – crazy conspiracy talk, all you want, but it is does not remove the huge albatross these statements have hung around Obama’s neck.
I believe in black liberation theology and I want Obama to be president – but we have to deal with things straight on and not throw up distractions.
It is 100% crazy talk that AIDS was man-made, and that it was created to wipe out gays or blacks. Obama was right to repudiate this — but the damage is done. It may undo him.

All of this talk about Rev. Wright’s HIV comments being racist and hateful begs the question: Why are others called “conspiracy theorists” but Rev. Wright is labeled a “hater” and a “bigoted racist?”
Some people say it’s also connected to his statements about 9/11. Unfortunately there are plenty of mindless drones or, parrots, if you will, who just repeat what they hear without checking the facts. I made it a point to search for Rev. Wright’s sermons, and I discovered that the 9/11 sermon preaches love, not hate. In it, he talks about the need to stop “the insanity of the cycle of hatred and violence.” He states “hatred is a dangerous place to be.” He offers the idea that we can’t continue to bomb places killing innocents and not expect it to happen to us. The examples he offered were not made up! However, people intent on swiftboating Obama have used a 30-second sound bite to take the message totally out of context. The same is true with the God Damned America sermon. I do not believe the Rev. is stating he believes God should damn America. Everybody seems to overlook the fact that he followed with “That’s in the Bible!” In my opinion, he is only interpreting scripture – (maybe as in you reap what you sew!). If people feel his interpretation is flawed or just plain wrong, or lacking in sympathy, then that should be the basis of their complaint – not racism. Nowhere did he say he hates America or any race of people. I got the impression he was trying to say that war should not be our response to 9/11.
As a result of this shameful misrepresentation, people have wrongly judged a man’s entire life based on a 30-second sound bite, and many of them are today in that dangerous place the Rev. spoke of. It’s time to end the insanity.

You know, it does not have to be a bad thing that the media decided to try to derail a candidate with portions of Dr. Wright’s sermons. For me and my friends it has become a helpful tool to greater understanding of why we think and react the way we do in a racially ‘different’ world. If we force ourselves to research to see IF there is truth to the statements made AFTER we have listened to the entire sermons–we have a place to start. Then we can be a healing bridge in our own part of this world. If we go back to the Tuskegee Experiment from the 30s to the 70s, read about what it meant to the 8 remaining survivors and their families to hear a President in the late 1990s acknowledge that the government had, indeed, committed the atrocity. Read and endeavor to understand how THAT knowledge blasted the trust of generations that followed. (Many did not even know of it until the apology in the late 90s. In fact, a dear friend of mine challenged me TODAY 3/28/08 about the validity of that story. He had never heard of it and did not believe our country would do such a thing until I presented documentation!) For those who read the blogs here, who are feeling hatred because of the media blitz of snippets of Dr. Wright’s sermons, if you choose not to research and understand, PLEASE let me apologize for the words you heard that caused you pain. Hatred requires focused energy and energy focused on hating someone I do not know, WOW! can’t do it.

In 1945, we witnessed the greatest influx of foreign scientists in history into the U.S. biological program. Operation Paperclip will live in infamy as one of the darkest programs of a twisted parallel government fixated on genocide.
In 1946, the United States Navy hired Dr. Earl Traub, a notorious racist biologist.
A May appropriations hearing confirms the existence of a “secret” biological weapon.
In 1948, we know that the United States confirmed the endorsement of “devising a scheme” in which to address the issue of overpopulation in certain racial groups. State Department’s George McKennan’s memo will forever illuminate the eugenics mendacity necessary for genocide of millions of innocent people.
In 1949, Dr. Bjorn Sigurdsson isolates the VISNA virus. Visna is man made and shares some “unique DNA” with HIV. See, Proceedings of the United States, NAS, Vol. 92, pp. 3283 – 7, (April 11, 1995).
In 1951, we now know our government conducted its first virus attack on African Americans. Crates in Pennsylvania were tainted to see how many Negro crate handlers in Virginia would acquire the placebo virus.. They were also experimentally infecting sheep and goats. According to author Eva Snead, they also held their first world conference on an AIDS-like virus.

There are no recorded cases of AIDS prior to the 1957 creation of “Special Operation-X.” (The SOX) program served as the immediate prototype program for the Special Virus program to begin in 1962.
By 1960, Nikita Kruschev had been let in on the biological weapon. His 1960 statement will long reflect the arrogance of the secret blend of communism and democracy. The two countries would go to a November 1972 agreement to cull the Black Population.
In 1961, scientist Haldor Thomar publishes that viruses cause cancer. In 1995, he and Carlton Gajdusek informed the National Academy of Sciences that “the study of visna in sheep would be the best test for candidate anti-HIV drugs.”
In 1962, under the cover of cancer research, the United States charts a path to commit premeditated murder, the “Special Virus” program begins on February 12th. Dr. Len Hayflick sets up a U.S. mycoplasma laboratory at Stanford University. Many believe the “Special Virus” program began in November 1961 with a Phizer contract.
Beginning in 1963 and for every year thereafter, the “Special Virus” program conducted annual progress reviews at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, PA. The annual meetings are representative of the aggressive nature in which the United States pursued the development of AIDS.
In 1964, the United States Congress gave full support for the leukemialymphoma (AIDS) virus research.
In 1967, the National Academy of Sciences launched a full scale assault on Africa. The CIA (Technical Services Division) acknowledged its secret inoculator program.
In 1969, Fort Detrick told world scientists and the Pentagon asked for more money, they knew they could make AIDS. Nixon’s July 18 secret memo to Congress on “Overpopulation” serves as the start of the paper trail of the AIDS Holocaust.
In 1970, President Nixon signed PL91-213 and John D. Rockefeller, III became the “Population Czar.” Nixon’s August 10 National Security Memo leaves no doubt as to the genocidal nature of depopulation.
In 1971, Progress Report #8 is issued. The flowchart (pg. 61) will forever resolve the true laboratory birth origin of AIDS. Eventually the Special Virus program will issue 15 reports and over 20,000 scientific papers. The flowchart links every scientific paper, medical experiment and U.S. contract. The flowchart would remain “missing” until 1999. World scientists were stunned. The flowchart will gain in significance throughout the 21st Century. It is also clear the experiments conducted under Phase IV-A of the flowchart are our best route to better therapy and treatment for people living with HIVAIDS. The first sixty pages of progress report #8 of the Special Virus program prove conclusively the specific goal of the program. By June 1977, the Special Virus program had produced 15, 000 gallons of AIDS. The AIDS virus was attached as complement to vaccines sent to Africa and Manhattan. However, because of the thoroughness of authors, like Dr. Robert E. Lee, we also learn the Stanford Mycoplasma Laboratory issues one of the first papers with AIDS in the title. “Viral Infections in Man Associated with Acquired Immunological Deficiency States.” The primary scientist, Dr. Thomas Merigan, was a “consultant” to the Special Virus program.
Progress Report # 8 at 104 – 106 proves Dr. Robert Gallo was secretly working on the development of AIDS with full support of the sector of the U.S. government that seeks to kill its citizens. Dr. Gallo can not explain why he excluded his role as a “project officer” for the Special Virus program from his biographical book. Dr. Gallo’s early work and discoveries will finally be viewed in relation to the flowchart. We now know where every experiment fits into the flowchart. The “research logic” is irrefutable evidence of a federal “Manhattan-style project” to develop a “contagious” cancer that “selectively” kills. Dr. Gallo’s 1971 paper is identical to his 1984 AIDS announcement.
Progress Report #8 at 273 – 286 proves we gave AIDS to monkeys. Since 1962, the United States and Dr. Robert Gallo have been inoculating monkeys and re-releasing them back into the wild. Thus, even government scientists are baffled that both HIV-1 and HIV-II would “suddenly emerge” from two distinct monkey ancestral relatives during the last 100 years. A 1999 Japanese study will ultimately prove the Man to Monkey origin of Monkey AIDS. The monkey experiments summary definitively proves Monkey AIDS is also man-made.
In 1972, the United States and the Soviet Union entered into a biological agreement that would signal the death knell for the Black Population. The 1972 agreement for collaboration and cooperation in the development of offensive biological agents is still U. S. policy.
In 1973, we find that world scientist, Garth Nicolson reports on his project, “Role of the Cell Surface in Escape From Immunological Surveillance.” His report is accompanied by seven published papers. Dr. Nicolson worked in conjunction with the Special Virus program from 1972 until 1978. Dr. Nicolson is considered by some to be Dr. Gallo’s “West Coast” counterpart. It is strongly held that because of Dr. Nicolson, Dr. Robert Gallo and Dr. Luc Montagnier would secretly meet in Southern California to coordinate what they would and would not say about the special virus development program.
In 1974, Furher Henry Kissinger releases his NSSM-200 (U.S. Plan to Address Overpopulation). It is the only issue of discussion at the World Population Conference in Bucharest, Romania. ,, The men in the shadows had won, the whole world agrees to secretly cull Africa’s population. Today it is Africa and other undesirables. Tomorrow it may be you.

On September 28, 1998 I filed suit against the United States for the “creation”, “production” and “proliferation” of AIDS. Our society is structured to hide crimes committed by the state, while punishing citizens for minor indiscretions. Their strategy focuses on the general confusion they can create via manipulation of the media. They are very good at what they do. We must become more focused in our continued presentation of the flowchart. The flowchart is the absolute missing link in proving the existence of a coordinated research program to develop a cancer virus that depletes the immune system. New diseases do not create old illnesses.
This compilation of court documents and correspondence is the true effort of one man’s achievement in solving the mystery of the origin of AIDS. We have found the origin of AIDS, it is us.
Psychiatric “treatment” of African Americans has included some of the most barbaric experiments ever carried out in the name of “scientific” research–and not very long ago. In the 1950s in New Orleans, black prisoners were used for psychosurgery experiments which involved electrodes being implanted into the brain. The experiments were conducted by psychiatrist Dr. Robert Heath from Tulane University and an Australian psychiatrist, Dr. Harry Bailey, who boasted in a lecture to nurses 20 years later that the two psychiatrists had used blacks because it was “cheaper to use Niggers than cats because they were everywhere and cheap experimental animals.”
Heath had also been funded by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) to carry out drug experiments which included LSD and a drug called bulbocapnine, which in large doses produced “catatonia and stupor.” Heath tested the drug on African American prisoners at the Louisiana State Penitentiary. According to one memo, the CIA sought information as to whether the drug could cause “loss of speech, loss of sensitivity to pain, loss of memory, loss of will power and an increase in toxicity in persons with a weak type of central nervous system.”
At the National Institute of Mental Health Addiction Research Center in Kentucky in the mid-1950s, drug-addicted African Americans were given LSD, with seven of them kept hallucinating for 77 consecutive days. At this same center, healthy African American men were still being used as test subjects almost 10 years later, this time for an experimental drug, BZ–100 times more powerful than LSD.

As a Afro-Latino male growing up in the Canal Zone in Panama, I know that Carribbean retirees were given “back punches” upon retirement by Dr. Wasserman, a US physician in Panama, working for the USA on the Canal Zone. These back punches (injections) turned out to be injections of syphylis. Talk about Deja Vu. Dr. Wasserman ostensibly wanted to see how syphylis would develop, if left untreated.

It’s crazy to think the US Government “invented” the HIV virus. Absolutely crazy. I’m not saying this because I’m a sheep or can’t believe the government would do such a thing, but as a biochemist, I understand the complexities of the virus and know that no human could construct it. We’re still not even sure completely how the thing works. It’s also a retro-virus, meaning its RNA genome is reverse-transcribed back to DNA before the viral genome can be replicated inside the cell. This activity of RNA-to-DNA reverse transcription was completely unknown until the HIV virus was studied extensively.
And if you have no idea what I’m talking about, then you don’t know enough to form a worthwhile opinion on the subject.

My god, my eyes are open. I was seriously considering Obama as my candidate, but the supporters quoted here with a few exceptions are frightening in the crazy sense. I am seriously reconsidering as not wanting to consider myself in the same group.
I am no scientist as I assume none of you are, but I can do math. If the goverment wanted to eliminate black people, I’m sure there would be a more efficient way to do it. To suggest they deliberately invented and gave aids virus to blacks is stupid. Besides, most live with the virus for many years costing the goverment BILLIONS of dollars in health care… doesn’t sound like an effective plan – duh.
And suppose for discussion it was true and some were infected, then who is spreading it???? The people who have it, long after we’ve known how it spreads – icontinue to spread the disease – careless partners, babies, and iv drug users. Take responsibility!

From a historical perspective it’s interesting to note that at the same time the Nazis
were performing diabolical experiments on the Jews at Auschwitz, the U.S. government
was performing equally horrific experiments on blacks in America. Is it reasonable to
say that the U.S. government viewed blacks the same way that the Nazis viewed the
Jews?
The Tuskegee Syphilis experiment on African American men in Alabama was not something the American people were supposed find out about. I can only imagine that there are problaby other such events that have yet to be revealed.
But what I find even more interesting than the fact that the Tuskegee Syphilis experiment actually occurred is what was being done with the data that they were collecting from this experiment. The experiment was conducted from 1932 until
1972 and was only brought to an end because someone blew the whistle. For a period
of 25 years after penicillin was found to be an effective treamtment they collected
data on the deterioration and death of these men…
