Samantha Power in a trusting moment expressed her pain and frustration to see Senator Obama so dishonestly and visciously attacked. She is a fine person, devoted to his candidacy and she obviously feels really awful. To watch Hillary gleefully make hay of this incident and keep on kicking Power even after her resignation and apology shows clearly what a cruel person she is. I don’t ever recall Senator Obama making such a crass display when he was deliberately and repeatedly slured by Hillary surrogates — including Bill Clinton, This whole election has become utterly surreal.

BTW — can’t help but notice the increase in troll traffic. I bet the Clinton campaign is targeting Obama supporter sites now.

Frankly, I don’t think this is that big a deal.
If I were a decison-maker at the Obama camp, I would’ve handled that differently.
I would have expressed an apology, but most importantly, made a stronger case for not ousting her.

Standing by Samantha firmly, I’m certain wouldn’t have reflected negatively on the campaign.

She is absolutely in no way, shape or form a liability to Obama, Inc. (501 c 3).

    I hope she’ll be back.

i don’t think it’s that big of a deal either and i don’t think resigning means much. it’s not like he is banned from talking to her to get advice or that he can’t get her back after he gets the nomination. she is still in the public eye with her book tour. she can still talk about the differences between obama and clinton as she is doing in this interview. she was an unpaid advisor in the first place, so she’s not losing a salary.

the only main thing is that she won’t be on the stump for him, which isn’t that big of a deal because the primaries are almost over and he has other surrogates like General McPeak and Susan Rice who can do that.

She’ll be fine. Obama will be fine and we definitely haven’t heard the last of Samantha Power. She’ll be back.

Sagereader — A commenter on the NYT Caucus Blog linked this article written in 2001 by Samantha Power which is high;y critical of the Clinton Administration’s deliberate inaction in Rwanda. Reading this now — especially given recent events, it red flags that there has been a terrible lack of scrutiny of the foreign policy decisions made during Cinton I. Its not old news if Hillary claims these things as her foreign policy experience. Power is in a unique position to shine some light on this — and now the Clintons have used a silly gaffe in an attempt silence her voice. They obviously had a bigger reason to do this than just embarrassing Senator Obama politically — I would wager Power was seen as dangerous to them long before her association with the Obama campaign.
