I saw the Katie Courie newscast when she & all the other major TV news channels were featuring it’s lead story “Derestion rate high among Iraqi solders”(whatever).
Credit her researcher & news staff that they included the few lines about the Iraq Verteran Suicider Rate.
How tragically sad that all these men are so emotional tramatized by the stress of their experiences that suicide is their only solution.
Where are all our leaders (Congress) that were gong-ho & voted for this snafu!!
The next day I emailed all the major news networks & asked them why there wasn’t any stories about this on their networks…no replies yet!
I live in the Reno/Sparks area of Nevada & 25% of all the homless on the street here are my bvrother vets from that OTHER unpopular war in SE Asia.
Talk about the disparty between the haves & have nots….it’s no contest on a freezing night here when the temperture is 14 degrees & your home is a cardboard box that says….”This end up”

A caveat to my post of 11/18/07
I believe; no I KNOW that we veterans that live here in the Reno/Sparks area have one of the best facilities & programs for verterans of all ages in all of the USA
Sure there are the normal snafu’s with any growing facility but the number of veterans that use this hospital/triage center/nursing home and out patient programs has quadupled in the last 5/6 years but the staff has worked hard to upgraded & refinded their system to meet 99% of our needs.
MOST of all it is the PEOPLE (the Staff) that work the long hours that show concern,compassionate,& courteous attention to each individual that makes the place work.
They have programs & staff that reach out to the homeless vets living here offering them services rather than waiting for that 911 call to pick up one of seriously ill brothers.
I may be wrong here but I think we have the only “spouse house” for visiting family members completely run on private donations.
