Mainstream Media Should Ask Clinton To Clarify Her Views on ‘Politics of Hope’

Hillary’s talking about ‘abandoning the politics of hope’ again.

Rather than continue to be used a sheepish medium for the Clinton campaign talking points, the mainstream media should ask her what the heck does she mean by ‘the politics of hope’?  Does she believe in the ‘politics of hope’ herself?

She throws it back to Obama so frequently as if she’s saying “I’m sorry you don’t believe in the tooth fairy any more or in Santa Claus any more.”   Is she saying that it is an impossible goal for politics and so we should just go ahead and be nasty?  Is she saying that she’s the one aligned with the politics of hope and Obama isn’t? That one would be a hard sell given her being on record as calling him “naive” and “frankly irresponsible.”  What is she saying???

Obama has already explained that for him, ‘politics of hope’ means he won’t get into personal attacks but will still draw contrasts on policy/leadership differences.  However, what exactly does Clinton mean when she keeps talking about ‘abandoning the politics of hope’?

Do your jobs, mainstream media.  Ask the logical questions.

I agree, and I think Barack should say, “I’ve noticed that Hillary never accuses me of abandoning the politics of hope when I criticize a Republican over a policy difference, but only thinks I am abandoning hope when I disagree with her. She seems to think the “politics of hope” is consistent with attacking anyone except her. The politics of hope means that the voters be allowed to hear and understand the real differences between the candidates and choose based on substance, not tactics or spin.

Bringing the country together and moving it forward with the kind of leadership and effective governance that is born of the optimal balance of truth-telling and humility.

That’s what Obama means by “politics of hope.” I couldn’t possibly guess what she means by it.
