I want to let you know that you should not religate a balack woman’s choice of Hillary Clinton to, black women like Bill Clinton. I think you would be making a huge mistake to try and sum it up in theat manner. I am a black woman. I am supporting Hillary Clinton. I as supporting Hillary because she is a woman.

I want to let you know that you should not relegate a balack woman’s choice of Hillary Clinton to, simply, black women like Bill Clinton. I think you would be making a huge mistake to try and sum it up in that manner. I am a black woman. I am supporting Hillary Clinton. I am supporting Hillary because she is a woman. It is as simple as gender!

    I voting girl. Period.

  7. Alphonso Says:

We should all be proud of Barack Obama. Inorder for our issues ( I mean black America) to be front and center and really get things done we need to have a working majority and we can only achieve that by having someone in the white house that can bring people together black and white, young and old, rich and poor which I think Barack can bring. The Clintons have been very divisive and if she get elected we will see the same old fight between the left and the right with will leave lead us nowhere. SO WAKE UP PEOPLE and let make history.

  8. John Says:

    SHAME ON YOU TAVIS….

  9. DBW Says:

I am tired of hearing black and white American citizens talk about Barack Obamas’ race. Barack is a Black Man who has a white mother and a Black father. When you see a person looking black it doesn’t matter what race their parents are okay. So to all of you Americans who want to be color blind at this time in 2008; I say accept the fact that Barack Obama is an African American Black Man. The days are over when Anglos can trick themselves and others that a Black Man is not mixed. We are all mixed with something, however, if your eyes see the color black then the person is black; if your eyes see white then that person is white. The children with parents of two different races do not get a pass by saying they are biracal, because color is reality. So look in the mirror and tell me what color you see and that is the color you are; except it as fact okay.

    Sad!!

  10. kaykitty Says:

To the person who made the last comment. Why do we have to classify people as a color of their skin anyway? Why can’t we just say ” man or women” First of all if you want to be politically correct as far as skin color, think about it. There is no white or black person. We are all different shades of a color, but not the actual color we are speaking of. So why even say it. It’s time for a new day. Time to get over this so called race barrier, and color thing. Time to start taking responsibility for our own actions, and stop placing the blame on someone or something else.

I think Barrack is a solid candidate, and to me he is the most experienced. He knows a heck of a lot more than the current president, and he has a caring heart. He’s seems to be concerned about the well being of the people. The things that he’s done in his life, he didn’t do, in hopes to gains vote to be the president one day. He did those things because he genuinely cares about bettering this country. That kind of love, can only come from GOD!

    Be Blessed!

  11. Breeze Says:

Don’t get an atttitude Tavis and friends. There is enough out here for all of us. ALL OF US. Every wonderful colour that God has designed. And yes HE IS TRYING TO BECOME THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED - UNITED - UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. FOR ALL PEOPLE. For the woman who is voting for Hillary, she is cheering for WHITE WOMEN. Get it in your head….let go of the slave mentality and begin to believe again in US. And no matter what colour BARACK was, I value his stand on morals, the future and his care for people. TEXAS AND OHIO (im OHIO)…GET OUT AND VOTE FOR OBAMA. WHY WOULD YOU VOTE FOR A WOMAN JUST BECAUSE SHE IS A WOMAN? DAH. I am a black woman and will not vote for HILLARY - I believe she is just working this to refresh what Bill did. Or feel on the souls of women who have been put down……uh. DAH. We need to concentrate on straightening up. BEING WORTHY and realizing it! SO SPECIAL PEOPLE OF ALL COLOURS…lets be refreshed with this change! Tavis dont get all bent out of shape because someone is not coming to YOUR program. Its not just about the needs of BLACK AMERICA, its about the needs of ALL. Many folk have been depressed, oppressed and suppressed! Folk of all shades. It shouldnt be a I GOTTA GET MIND time. ITs about what do I give to my world to make it better and blessed. GO OBAMA!

  12. Breeze Says:

I check my errors - like many on here don’t: IT shouldn’t be an I GOTTA GET MINE ..time. It’s about what do I give to my world to make it better and blessed. MY GRANDBABIES PRESIDENT: BARACK OBAMA. HOW EXCITING.

  13. Sandra Says:

Hilary Clinton has demonstrated why the Democratic party is in need of serious reform. Her tactics of divide and conquer simply do not work anymore…at least not among White voters disgusted by a busted economy, failed education policies and a war based on hatred and fear, that someone with “experience” should never have supported. I’m certain no stone has been left unturned to find something to discredit Mr. Obama, so her argument that she only has limited information doesn’t fly.

It is time for African-Americans and Latinos (who make up the largest interracial demographic in America according to the 2006 US Census Bureau) to see beyond the color line as well. You can only be enslaved if you want to be and clearly some people can not and will not embrace social emancipation. For the rest of us, the day for change has arrived. I ask you, what is Hilary Clinton’s community service record?
She has no experience as president, she has experience being a First Lady. Senator McCain has experience as a prisoner of war, not as commander-in-chief.

As for the great senator from Illinois, Barack Obama should not be the exception within the Black community, but he should be the rule. And as a MIXED race man made black by default we must address this concept of institutionalized racism and eradicate it.

Consider this, if you’ve ever had a blood transfusion from someone of a different race, you too have one drop. Shame on anyone who wants to reduce the work, efforts and aspirations of the growing numbers of Americans who are working to live according to their character rather than the color of their skin.

Let us take the moral highground and recognize that the unjust oppression of a single person in a democracy renders that systems ineffective. Change begins from within and the only thing that is inevitable is change.

  14. JaDoCo Says:

Seems some cannot become satisfied, nor will be until they have had a role in every political office available.
From most of the very experienced, we can only expect business as usual.
Smear campaigning is a turn off (tired of it), smearing others does not swayed me away from my original choice for electing a candidate; it alerts me to realize that I have made the correct selection. Slanderers are those which lack confidence in themselves and or envies those they are slandering.
This current presidential race has opened up many hearts and eyes.
I sincerely hope they are wise and have excellent lighting within their gray matter.
No elected official have been perfect in their dealings, nor have they been honest with their constituents.
Year 2008, a year of new beginnings. Hopefully for the good of The United Stated States and our true allies.

  17. Mr Dolemite Medical Marijuana Clinic Owner Says:

Being that the above interview was done way back in October of 07, there is no excuse for Tavis to act as though he doesn’t who and how “black” Obama is. It was an exellent interview between both of them and for Tavis to be doing what he is doing now to Obama is disgusting. Basically, Tavis “You AinT Shit” as my Grandmother used to say. Smoke some Sativa’s and free your mind!

  20. eric Says:

    McCain. He’s a this, he’s a that, but he’s not a Clinton….
I agree with Ray as well to my previous point that, we finally have a choice, that looks like us, has a similar demographic to us, understands our issues, talks right, walks right, a family man, has integrity.

    I BELIEVE in this cat!

I believe that HE believes, what he’s saying. How many other choices, can you actually say, “I believe in them”? All the entangibles mentioned by William, apply to Obama.
    But lesser of two evils…..?

Why not give this guy an opportunity to remove the ‘ransom rope’ from around this country’s neck? We’ll soon be owned by Europe and Asia…
If we EVER had someone that was qualified, dignified, informed, literally capable, and polished enough to exercise this task,
It’s Obama…I just can’t see why all of our brutha’s and sistas don’t see that. Hell, Ray Charles and Stevie see that….

    that’s what I meant by ‘farm’ mentality—–If it ain’t white, it ain’t right….
When is it ever going to be ‘right-enough’ for us to support our own people?

“I’d go to a black-owned grocery store…If we had one in the suburbs, or if i happened to be on that side of town.”
“I’d go to a black-owned hair-care products store, but their prices aren’t as good as the vietnamese stores….”
“I’d put my money in a black-owned bank, FDIC insured….If we had one to go to….”
“I’d go to an exclusive black-owned, black cuisine, restaurant…If they could stay open long enough…”( How many of yall go eat at the Olive Garden, Benny Hanna’s, Salt Grass, Pappadeaux’s, Outback, Chinese Buffet’s…?) How many soul-food restaurants you go to? What is soul-food….?
“I’d shop at a black-owned clothier, if when i put the suit on it didn’t rip and fall apart….”
“I’d like my wife to go to a black-owned nail salon, but the vietnamese one down the street, is $20 cheaper….”
I’d vote for Obama, if i wasn’t afraid he was gone get shot, or was being used by Republicans just to get rid of Hillary…”
How many of yall waste a dollar every week on the lottery…..?
What’s the difference? Take a chance on Obama….

How long is long enough to support each other? We are our own worst enemy….Cause we won’t support our own people.

I’m gonna stand on solid ground. A man who doesn’t stand for something, will fall for anything.
I’m gonna make my stand with Obama, on principal—I’ve never had an opportunity to vote for a black man, an african american-man, a candidate that looks like me and has all the prerequisites, all the qualifications, all the articulate dialogue, all the right stuff….
I’m gonna make my stand and support this brutha, this black father, this husband, this family man-that looks like me, and likes his coffee like he likes his woman—Strong and Black, but sweet as honey….

    Call me naive….
    call me short-sighted….
    But don’t call me, a farm negro….

It’s time we stop exercising ‘conventional wisdom’—(farm mentality), help ourselves—stand for something, and stop waiting to be saved by someone else.

    Lesser of two evils….
You can spray sweet perfume on top of $hit, and guess what….?
After the perfume settles in, it’s still $hit….

  21. Mary Says:

I believe that we should always address black white issues or gender issues as long as there is racism and gender issues. However, as a white female I am not supporting Hillary because she is a woman. In fact, I am supporting Barack because I believe he will make the most difference in a time in our lives when the old way of thinking has made our world a difficult place to live. I believe he has what it takes to get the most important things done in a manner that will lift all americans and even our friends abroad who for a long time now, since Bush have a very vulgar view of us as americans. On the issues we face as americans he can relate on so many levels. I am supporting Barack because I believe that he can bring us beyond all the rhetoric we’ve had to deal with for 8 years now and into the future with a realty based view of how things should be done and the way in which we need to go forward to make real difference (good differences) in the lives of all people.

  22. A serious student Says:

I believe that Barack Obama has all of the chracteristics of a good President. Irrespective of all the media talk about Obama not being experienced we have all been in a position where we were thought to be inexperienced but still managed to move foward. Its time to turn the page and move foward.

  23. Leave the past in the past Says:

Tavis should get off the old past things in life of black/white. This is the reason why America is unable to move forward. On TJ talk show, Tavis always talk about the negative, can we talk about something positive. Why be so concern of Obama not showing up for the Black Union. Some of us think Obama is the Savior, he is running for President to make a change, and I say again a change in the US. As if magic, Obama is suppose to automatically help all the blacks. First, we need to help ourselves. Obama owes us nothing but to be a great President and hopefully stop the war and improve foreign relationships. Tavis, stop the madness and be more positive of life and move forward. You once mention about helping the homeless and you knew how it is to be on the streets. It is so funny, you and other people with wealth will not help the people on the streets, to get them educated, help with jobs. We all pass them up, sometime they do not want help. Several of your topics are basis and you need to rethink your train of thoughts of life.

  24. kuntakuntee Says:

Go obama god bless you ,you will be our presadent

  25. Deborah Pettiford Says:

On the Tavis issue, can I just mention that our abandonment issues are chronic in the severity catagory, and rightfully so. I venture to say that when Obama decided to run and went out on a limb, he probably anticipated it being cut down. But I don’t believe he will abandon us. And I hope Tavis doesn’t abandom us. We need Tavis, we need more like Tavis and in the spirit of Obama’s response to the good reverend, we should continue to embrace Tavis.
